I'm a verified Paypal user and I just got scammed as a buyer in this sale:
http://www.markeedragon.com/u/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=426840
Basically, I talked to the guy online. I paid him over paypal through Send Money, he gave me some fake information and pretended like his computer crashed. Of course, none of the information worked, so I immediately brought a dispute via Paypal.
He responded almost instantly with some b******t saying "virtual goods" multiple times and how I sent him emails confirming I recieved the "virtual goods", and he raised the thing to a claim.
Is there something about virtual goods and not being able to get a refund on them if you were scammed? Is there still a good chance I can get my money back ($300) if I reported it right away and provided them with a lot of information (some things we said in chat, etc)? Also we had agreed on him sending me the game and CDkey as well.. perhaps that would kick the chance of me getting a refund up?
Any suggestions for ways to improve my chances of getting refunded?
As a student, I can't really afford to lose $300 to pay for absolutely nothing. I'm really hoping some people on here have had good news from paypal when they got ripped off like this.
Thanks...and watch out for this guy, his AIM and alias on forums is Illuminati060.
And I was thinking.. if virtual items means that paypal can't lay a finger on you, doesn't that mean people could easily go around sending fake accounts without being scared to get in any trouble whatsoever (besides getting murdered irl, lol)?

There's some a link to the paypal site which can explain further. Honestly I hate using Paypal for online transactions, and I've used it several times to sell WoW accounts. I take what precautions I can but it is always a stressful experience and now that selling on Ebay is out I'm not sure it's worth it.
Good luck getting your money back.

If you ever use paypal make sure you pay with your credit card so if there is any trouble you call your Credit Card Company and start a reversal. If you start it via paypal you may not get your $ back. |
Right.
As a buyer, you have many chances to get your account back if you used the above fund method. The seller must provide a tracking ID of the thing he/she sold to you, if the dispute regards TANGIBILE objects. If the dispute is about Intangibile objects, such as accounts and so, PayPal will give the money to you for sure, because seller CAN'T provide a TRACKING ID of the goods. Hope you will get your money back, and f**k all the scammers !
