I do AR among other things for my new work .. it is an AC and Heating service company and I've noticed somehing HILARIOUS ...
We sell A LOT of $80.00 sets of AA batteries .. LMFAO .. These people must feel like total morons who call us saying they have no heat only to have the tech come out and replace the batteries in their Tstat...
Moral of the story . check the batteries on your Tstats before calling one of us

Those thermostats should run off the voltage from the furnace. Needing batteries is dumb.

Heh soldering copper pipes is one of the easiest home repair jobs. It's wortth learning, all you need is a mapp gas cylinder and torch tip, some solder, flux and steel wool. Clean the pipes with the steel wool, apply flux, heat them up with the torch then apply the solder and it will get sucked into the joint. It's a useful skill to have for those little emergencies
Actually I did exactly the same thing one time - yanked on the hose too hard and wrenched the spigot causing the solder joint to open up and start spraying water.

I've been burned by you bastards before.
Turned out to be a loose wire that I didn't connect well when changing my thermostat control and it cost me 100 bux. Did it in the winter time and I thought my air conditioning was working upon a quick test run. I never realized that just because the air is blowing it's not necessarily working right (wasn't being chilled). Took the service guy 5 min to find and 2 min to fix.

Customers' stupidity should benefit the people they inconvenience... if only I could charge for stupidity in my job, I'd be rich.
