I think a political forum would be good, while the argument is "tune out", perhaps a forum for political debate will a) clean up general and b) allow for better debate on issues since there will be a central forum for it.

Yes there should be one, simply because it's the same discussion over and over and it would be much more efficient to put the 20 daily threads there for easy reading/avoidance depending upon your interest.
If that doesn't seem good, then make one thread about this debate, and post exclusively to it (like the uber thread in eq form, guild retards) so that everyone can see what you've been saying all along easily. (that should be interesting... haha) That would help trim down the garbage and make the discussion a bit more focused (well maybe).

Either way.
It did make the morning go by faster.
If I see a propaganda article I will respond in kind so it makes no difference to me anymore now that I have a strategy to deal with the tactic.
I just feel sorry of the folks who will get annoyed by the spam.
The other forbidden topics are religion and… shit I forgot the 3rd. But it’s only politics and only in an election year that seem to be popping up in the general forum now.

this is a bad idea, general chat isnt so cluttered that we need to move half the posts away to another forum... theres no reason to fragment the board even more, general chat is it is, is either political posts or joke posts 90 percent of the time.
Its not like truely enlightening posts are being push away by a flood of political posts, so why make a new forum? If there was actually some chat that was losing out because of to much politics then i could see a political forum being a good idea but as it is it would just kill the board faster, it would mean people who dont always post in every political post wouldnt post in them at all because they are in a whole nother forum. So this is a really really bad idea.
