I turned 18 yesterday. KINDA ruined my birthday to recieve a letter to my old name, ordering me to register for selective service within 30 days or face prosecution. I don't mind serving my country, but this isn't about serving my country. It's about a law requiring all males to register, including transexuals. Males to females are required to register, but in the same clause it states if they are ever drafted they would be exempt. While female to male transexuals and genetic women are forbidden to register. If I want to recieve financial aid for my next semester of college I must register. Leaving me in a pretty difficult situation. I refuse to register on grounds that I'm not a male, so I get to live with the consequences I guess.

Just register.
In the unlikely event you're ever called into service, I'm pretty they'll let ya off the hook. And if this is about doing something you don't want to do... well once I had to jam and spin a cucumber up an inflatable sheep's butt for half an hour. Had KY too. And an octupus on my head.
So don't feel picked on

You're not saying you're a male if you register. You said very clearly that male->females are required to register. So if that's what you are, that's what you do. And they probably won't force you to join. I'd think life would be difficult enough without looking for battles to fight.

Every Male has to register with selective service when they turn 18. But in your case you should not have too. When I turned 18 they sent me the same letter and i didnot fill it out for a year then they sent me a second letter, after I read about it I found out it was only a list of names for able bodied people and not a draft. Just tell them who you are now and I don't think you have to fill out the form. But do some research on the issue to make sure. Come to think about, I didnot fill it out til I was almost 20. So don't worry about it too much.
