So, how does this work, exactly? If I start a group, am I automatically the Founder, or do other members have a say in this, election-wise? Does the founder have all the abilities that exist for that particular group by default? If so, would it be possible to make a 1-member group?

This is all answered in the FAQ / Knowledge Base, but what the hell – Yes, you are automatically the Founder of any group you found (duh!); no, the other members can't change it no matter what; yes, the founder has all the abilities; and finally no, one-man groups can't exist, you need to have at least one other member.
