So what's this I've been hearing about people stealing other people's copyrighted work in Second Life? Like, stealing their textures, skins, and other design? They're using some sort of 3rd-party tool to do it, somehow. The way I've heard it, people have been leaving SL permanently in protest. Is there some truth to that?

That's sort of old news, but yes. The application that was being used was able to remove the copyright info, allowing for unrestricted copying of an item's design. I think it was called CopyBot or something like that. Supposedly, Linden Labs dealt with it somehow (the world is still there, right) but I don't really remember how.
