So tell me, is it true what people say about Second Life, that it is all just a huge evolutionary step for furry fandom? That 4 out of 5 people you meet in there are furries? Because if that's so, I don't really think I'd be joining the "alternate online experience" any time soon …

To put it succinctly – no. Most people that log onto SW regularly are just ordinary folks like me or (probably) you, with perhaps a wee bit more escapism on their minds than is entirely healthy. There are furries aplenty, mind you, but it's a gross exaggeration to say that they make up 80% of the SL community.
