What hair style should I choose to have my hair wave in the wind while I'm flying? The avatar related help files at secondlife.com say I should be able to do this if I set some graphic rendering options correctly, but it won't work for me… I've been told that I should try a different 'do, would that make a difference?

Perhaps, but I doubt it. Last I heard, those bump mapping settings (Edit / Preferences / Graphics / Avatar Rendering) were broken for a while, and I don't know if they repaired it, nor if they have any plans to do so.
Assuming the mapping thing is functional, you might also want to see if your video card supports it; what model do you have?
