After almost 2 years of a horribly broken and unbalanced game, the devs behind SWG finally got a fire lit under their asses and are in the process of implementing changes which affect every class and ever echelon of characters, from grinding crafters to pvp hardcores.
Check out the latest patches that are going in, I don't have much hope it will attract many people from the flashier games out there now but for the ones who still play there are better days yet to come.
-- All intra and interplanetary shuttles are now on a 60 second timer
-- You can now travel to any planet from any planet instantly if you own a ship equipped with a hyperdrive at no cost
-- You can now survey/sample while riding a mount
Changes coming soon
-- Complete combat rebalance and upgrade. Different armor types for different situations, all combat classes will have different choices of weapons. No longer will composite armor be the end-all of armor. Factional armor will actually be functional and will vary in effectiveness for different situations. The choices will be scout/recon armor, heavier armor for skirmishes including both ranged weapons and melee combat and blast/siege armor for taking out gun turrets and factional bases. You will not be able to don all kinds of armor, it all comes as a set and will require very advanced planning as to who will do what when it comes to a base assault.
-- PvP is being revamped as well. The hated group TEF will be taken out of the game to prevent ganking/griefing, Jedi will be unable to receive help from ANY other players when confronted by a bounty hunter who's there to claim his mark.
-- Doctor buffs and armor PvE effectiveness are going to be nerfed significantly. No more soloing NS Elders. Grouping will now be required to complete the hardest areas in the game.
-- FFA/ML/Lottery looting system being introduced.
-- Housing limits will be increased significantly. Lot requirements are being removed from multiplayer spaceships and reduced for houses, factories and harvesters
