Anyone else experiencing this in their area?

Around here, in Northwest Arkansas, places are starting to run out already. At least 2 dozen places that I have either seen or heard of from friends/family.

Glad I filled up yesterday when I got off work.

Yeah, that's apparently what happened in Florida. The panic caused people to fill up en masse, buying twice the normal amount of fuel in a single day, which caused the predicted shortage. There hasn't been any change in the volume of fuel coming into Florida, simply the amount being sold.

Some stations around where I live are running out of gas while many others are getting low, they started limiting on how much gas can be bought too so they won't run out too easily.

Stations here in Mobile are getting 2-3 tankers a day through them but we're in the 'oh shit zone'. We should be back to normal fuel consumption here in a couple days though; power is coming back on faster than during Ivan luckily. It's funny watching the people freaking out over gas because they didn't prepare. We just drained our boat's 60gal. tank for the generator and I put about 10gal. in my truck. I did stand in line to get some free MREs for hunting season though haha!

You know these gas stations love every minute of it. They get all excited when the news says that gas prices will go up.

I filled up yesterday without any problems and have not noticed gas stations running out. However, to be fair, I have not been paying that much attention to it either.

Not always true sir. Profit maragin on gas is not that good for the people who own the pumps. They buy it at a certain price and hope like hell that price holds pretty close until it is time to fill up again. If the prices go in the opposite direction and they have to lower the prices to stay competitive then they take a bath on it. If they go up then they can make some extra dosh, but it will not be a whole hell of alot. From what an old client of mine told me that owns a gas station as one of her many businesses....profit maragin for her on gasoline is only a few pennies on the gallon normally.

They have contracts and are pretty much guaranteed 2-8c per gallon with the norm around 3c

When the prices shot up the 7-11s didnt make a ton of $$, the oil companies do. Their profit margins are huge at EVERY step of the refining process they can make as much as 20% per step. They get away with it by stating they are a margin business (even though they made $8bln in profit last quater)

I have a friend whose relatives own a chain of gas stations where I live, and they have more than enough of a financial cushion, but they still complain about how they're not making enough money. Hell, it's like that one song says: "I'd like to see them spend a week, livin' life out on the strees, I don't think they would survive."
