I remember watching like 30 minutes of it back in the day on Comedy Central and thinking it was totally gay and totally crap.
My opinion of the movie still remains.

Halloween weekend, go see it at midnight with a live cast.
It's the only way to really enjoy the movie. Get as many people as you can to go with you, hopefully some that have seen it and know what's going on.

If these items are foriegn to you, really, get a clue...
Number one: If you rent it and watch it at home, you are an idiot.
Number two: If you rip it off from the internet and watch it on your PC, you are an idiot and a thief (no mention of geek loser).
Number three: If you base your opinion off watching the movie for the content, you are an ignorant idiot.
Number four: RHPS is an experience.
I can't say I am a huge fan and follower of RHPS, but to say the movie sucks, says you have no clue what you just critiqued.
I think I've gone to it two or three times and the movie was the last thing I remembered watching.

Of course it's a bad movie. Always was. You go for the show, and experience, not to actually watch the film.

All I know is every time my girlfriend in college saw that movie she'd get so horny she'd get her girlfriend/roomate to sleep with us. So I never said no when she suggested going to see it

RHPS is the most overrated film to date. It's kind of like the pre-cursor to Tim Burton's movies, only it sucks more.
"You don't enjoy Rocky Horror Picture Show because you didn't watch it at precisely midnight Halloween night at the spooky theater on the edge of town with all the trannies dancing around" isn't a good argument. Any movie that requires specific conditions to be met before you can "enjoy it properly" is not a good movie. Anyone that goes to the play for the "experience" is an idiot. There is no more "experience" in that there is in heading to a gay bar on crossdresser night.

How else would you describe it?
It's not going to see the movie.
It's a room full of horny people out to have a good time.
To see people you know acting it out in the front row while the movie is going.
Cheering on whatever poor creature is having bad luck during the pre-show animated clip.
The front row standing up and shouting "f**k the back row" during the theme song.
The crowd changing lyrics to songs in the movie ("damnit janet I love you" becomes "Damnit janet I want to s***w")
Shouting phrases during the extra long pauses in the script.
Throwing particular items at the screen when certain words are said.
Dancing in the isle during the Time Warp.
It's not a cult classic because people think its a good movie.
Although, I suppose some of you all wouldn't like shouting "hey look, it's the republican national convention" when they pan the trannies up on the balcony.
But what else would you call it besides "the experience". Not a play, not a movie, just a fun night out.

Heh, that line took me a while to learn. When doing it, everyonegrabs the hips in front of them, doing a pelvic thrust, shouting "group **** group **** group ****"
Most major cities have a theater that plays it. Always at midnight, Usually on a Sat night. 18+ only, but they arent "too" strict on ID checks.
