Wow, some guy gets killed in a traffic accident, and instead of calling 911, someone robs him. Sometimes it seems like we're becoming more and more like a third world country. Althought maybe that's an insult to third world countries.

As he lay dying on a Detroit street, someone robbed him.
Police found Donald Dillon, 44, of Hamtramck on Tuesday morning in an auto wreck at the intersection of Victoria and Goddard.
He was dead. His pockets were ransacked. His wallet was rummaged.
The crime disgusted even street-hardened Detroit cops.
"It just goes to show you that people have no respect for the injured or the dead," said Officer Mitchell Quinn of the department's fatal squad.
Dillon was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier that collided with a Dodge Caravan at 2:12 a.m. in northeast Detroit, police said. The driver, Carl Oates, 54, of Detroit, was also killed and had to be extricated from the car.
Police said Oates and Dillon were eastbound on Victoria when they may have run a stop sign and collided with the Caravan, which was traveling south on Goddard. The Cavalier then struck a brick wall. The Caravan crashed into a nearby house.
The 44-year-old driver of the Caravan survived and was hospitalized at Detroit Receiving Hospital in serious condition, police said.
The accident is under investigation, and police are unsure whether they can make a robbery case.
"Nobody saw anything," Quinn said. "We don't have anybody to go after."
Quinn said Dillon was ejected from the Cavalier and that as his body lay motionless in the street, someone went through his pockets. Police found the ransacked wallet next to the body.
Lilian Hunt, who lives on Goddard, said she heard a loud crash and ran out of her house. Hunt, 72, said she saw a man run from the scene and get into a white car.
"There were several people around the crash scene," said Hunt, who has lived in her home for 32 years.
"That's awful that someone may have stolen from a dead man. It's sickening. The neighborhood is going downhill. I don't even like to go outside after dark."

There are still plenty of resources for every single person in the US, without question. When shit gets tight, it doesn't make it ok to be inhuman. And that is excatly what that thief is. I don't care how down and out you are. I don't care how thin your cardboard box is, or how nasty the rotten food you eat is. You can do more, you can better yourself, you can pull your own sorry ass out of whatever hell you've let yourself slip into. And you can do it without ransacking the dead. There's no excuse as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn't mean his wife or kids don't need it. They are obviously going to have lots to deal with now. And it doesn't matter if the money would have just blown away in the wind - there's no decent justification for robbing the dead, especially while they're still warm. To make the choice not to try to help save his life, but to rob him instead...

one thing my mother made very clear to me from a very early age
NEVER GO TO HAMTRAMCK
There is some stink right now that the muslims are making there too. They want prayed calls 5 times a day between 10am-5pm over loudspeakers on public streets. That neighborhood is very rough from what I remember.

It's a city of poor immigrants, and it's definitely not a great place to pass through. For a while, the city had so little money it couldn't afford any police. The State cops had to cover the police work in that area, but as you can imagine the coverage was extremely weak.
