|

Just got the service today, but it seems to kick me off every 4-5 minutes. Is there something that I should check or something else interfering with RoadRunner? I have to reboot to get the connection back.

you have to reboot your computer or the modem?
are you using a router?
if you have to reboot the modem a lot...call road runner, there's probably a problem with your line

I can make Excel and Word dance for me, I can put computer components together to make a computer, but this internet shit in Windows is beyond me.

Typically when a modem drops connection (cable modem) it caused by a large variance in SNR (Signal to noise ratio). Only way to find that out is by calling yoru cable company support and having them verify your signals. they may need to put a booster on your line. This ofcourse is hte most logical path to check. There are a ton of other possibilities (NIC, cables, etc etc) But in my experience it's SNR or power issues with teh cable lines.

Time warner cable sucks ass.
I had it for a year, it was good for the first 6 months than the bandwidth/ping both went downhill.
Eventually it was pinging as bad as dialup so i canceled it and went SBC DSL.
DSL is always good, never fluctuates, im real happy with it.
