barbs get bash. Dorfs , DEs, cats and gnomes (maybe others) get night vision. other than that its all the same.

with a gnome mask tho there isn't alot of incentive to make a gnome unless you think it's unabtainable for you.

Gnome masks no longer drop and haven't in ages. I've seen quite a few people try to get them and weren't unable to... If its very obtainable for you Lauren, Share your secrets! I have a friend who has really wanted one for a long time and has the plat to throw around to get it 
Stats do matter unless you got a ton of plat(600+k) to twink the shit out of the rogue, so your starting race can be important. Sure if you get to 65 max out all your AA join uber guild, then a gnome = barb. Even then sometimes your base stats will matter, the standard skill caps at 65 = 280 which can be difficult to get to (even with buffs) unless you have tons and tons of stat items.
Statistically Barbs and Cats are the best rogues, but thats just stats which "shouldn't" be the reason you make a char a certain race. I personally think you should make what you really enjoy to play, I would make a human rogue hehe, i dunno just seems cool (I got my rl gf into eq by gettin her to make a human rogue, and now she loves it  ). Its how people indentify with you because its what they see ;p.

Barbarians are blind and thus useless: "kin i get uv plz?"
Wood Elves are played out: "In the name of Tunare, the Earth Mother Love Mistress Star Dreams, I command thee to cease thy vicious deeds!"
Gnomes are a joke: "Look at me! I'm a cute little gnome with gnome power! /dance /hug" f**k off
Dark Elves are a waste: "Oh boy. I'm a rogue with high intelligence and 13 strength."
Vah Shir are also played out: "Hiyas! I'm Kittystabz the rouge!"
Halflings are...see Gnomes.
Humans are...see Barbarians.
Half-elves are...not allowed! Skecpa is the only Half-Elf rogue allowed.
Dwarves can roll, so that makes them the obvious choice.

Half Elves (particularly females) are good luck. All the phat lewts drop when a half Elf female is in the party and in Hi Res Graphics mode, they look like Twiggy.
And Frashii will back me up on this....HEF GIRL POWAH 4 LYFE!!!!!!!!!

Barbs > All
And being blind is a pain for a warrior, but all a rog has to do is go get a DE mask and click it when it gets dark :p. Also solves the being too big in dungeons problem. Barbarians also have bash and the best starting stats (stamina), dwarf being 2nd.

It doesnt matter what race you get. Just get what you think looks cool man. Slam is worthless for the most part, not having vision kinda sucks but u can always get a mrylo helm, just go with what you think looks cool and put all the points you can into sta. I would suggest a race that you cant easily obtain a mask (nomer/dorf) and then just buy an erudite mask so you can enter the realm of the funk.

It used to be that one of the old Half-Elf models looked like Errol Flynn (Y'know... the old-school Robin Hood, Captain Blood, etc...). That fact right there made Half-Elf Rogues > All. Now we look like clowns when wearing banded pants. =/

halfing mask is one of the hardest to get , prolly fewer on the server of these than any other mask . plus they have a EXP modifyer so they level faster.
