1) Insert xp disk into drive

2) restart computer

3) Choose install windows xp

4) choose clean installation of xp

5) format drive and install xp.

It's not f*****g rocket science. Windows xp f*****g holds your hand the entire time.

And no, there isn't a way to format from Run in windows. Unless of course its a seperate drive that does NOT contain the OS. Then you just right click the drive and click format.

put XP disk in and when ya get to the screen with the partitions, delete them and then the disk will format the drive for you. i just did it yesterday on my dell.

PS make sure your bios is set up to boot from the CD drive . i had to change mine

Or you can make a boot disk by left clicking on drive a and picking make boot disk then put it in and start PC. then type

format C:

JESUS f*****g CHRIST. ITS NOT f*****g HARD.

1) INSERT WINDOWS XP CDROM INTO YOUR CDROM DRIVE (THIS IS NOT A SYNONYM FOR YOUR ASS)

2) REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER (PUSH THE LITTLE POWER BUTTON SINCE THATS PROBABLY THE ONLY WAY YOU KNOW HOW TO REBOOT)

3) YOUR COMPUTER WILL MORE THAN LIKELY TELL YOU TO PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM THE CDROM DRIVE (NO IT WILL NOT SPEAK TO YOU, YOU HAVE TO READ THE SCREEN)

4) PRESS ANY KEY (DONT SPEND HOURS LOOKING FOR THE "ANY" KEY PLEASE)

5) YOUR COMPUTER WILL THEN GIVE YOU A FEW OPTIONS. CHOOSE A NEW INSTALL OF WINDOWS XP.

6) DELETE ALL PARTITIONS AND IT WILL HAVE ONE UNFORMATED PARTITION, CHOOSE IT FOR THE INSTALL! (WE WILL NOT GO INTO MAKING DIFFERENT PARTITIONS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS)

7) INSTALL (AKA SHOOT YOURSELF IN TEH f*****g TESTICLES)

just put the windows xp cd in and reboot the computer with cd rom support

...it'll hav ethe option to format on there

..and the dos/fdisk won't work for windows xp because you need NTFS for win xp...dos/fdisk formats in FAT16 or FAT32

try 30 seconds ignorant f**k. you are right, everyone doesnt know how to sit at a computer and do everything. but most people have the common sense to follow f*****g instructions the first time they are given. there isnt much to understand about puting a cd into a cdrom drive and rebooting your computer. a retarded monkey could follow directions better than you.

and jesus like i care that YOU of all people think im a fucktard? im being criticized by the collective retard pool of realpoor, add meal and paden to the list and we can call the vet to put you f*****g morons out of your misery.

XP doesn't like to let you format for some reason.

Go to www.bootdisk.com and make a Win98 bootdisk, boot from it, format, and then install of your XP CD.

gruntingcod, is it at all possible for you to CLICK OFF THE f*****g "ATTACH SIGNATURE" BUTTON if you post more than once in a thread?

as much as we all enjoy seeing your retarded tool homage 84 times a thread, it really doesn't need to be spammed across our screens constantly

I believe the reason you cannot format from DOS on Windows XP, is because XP isn't run the same way that the older OS's are. In fact, DOS is emulated inside of XP, whereas in older versions, the OS was run from DOS. In other words, there's no way to get to DOS w/o Windows XP running, so there's no way to reformat using DOS.
