I have a ton of junk that i want to get rid of. a few NICs, an old mobo, sound card, modem, etc.

Ideally i would like to donate this equipment to a non-profit that builds computers for families in need.

sadly i don't like in portland or san francisco. i like in tacema. i would be willing to take them to seattle, as i travel there occasionally.

does anyone know of a good place to send or take old computer parts?

what do you do? do you recycle? do you trash them?

do you ebay them for $1.72?

i don't care onough to do this.

i want them to be recycled at least, if not re-used.

mostly i just want them out of my house.

The place I work just threw away all their old computer shit (8 pallets stacked 6 feet high each hehe) so I threw my stuff away like that. I guess it goes to the prisoners over in Detroit where they sort the good stuff from the bad, and the bad gets recyled!

I think they pretty much take anything. They refurb what they can and get it back into the community for like poor kids and stuff.

Desolder all the electronic components (capacitors, voltage regulators, diodes, etc) from the circuit boards and organize then into bins to make neat shit with later.

A little off topic but I was going through my storage yesterday and I found a 1 gallon container filled with nothing but soda can tabs... Back in highschool some rumor went around that you could recycle them all for like $50.00 so I collected then and somehow forgot about it over all these years.

What should I do with them? I just figured i'd put them in the little green recycle can and let them take it.

Tura .. oddly enough, take them to your local hospital, I think up by oncology, the nurse's station will have a little container for those tabs.. they donate them and somehow the proceeds go to a cancer organization. Call up and ask if you want to check.

I know of them doing this in a few places.

I have never thrown away any of my old computer parts :p

I still have my first 286 in working order, and tons of video careds that i upgraded in past years heh.

I'm atm building about 6 systems i have lying around in various pieces that range from prolly '82 to '95 just to be able to play old games i still have that wont run in XP without issue heh

It's fun playing things like old wing commander on a 486 Smile
