Horror:
King's overrated (yes, I said it). Read HP Lovecraft...it'll make you wary of shadows.
Sci-fi:
Heinlein, Asimov, and Clarke...some of the best sci-fi authors to this date.
Military:
Coyle...wrote Team Yankee...great book!
Fantasy:
Definately the Amber series...or Tolkien...or CS Lewis...Piers Anthony...etc...

One of which won't be Mitch Albom!
This guy is miserable irl, I saw him throw the biggest fit at a Red Wings game because the fans 'were too loud.' Also, the Detroit Free Press is constantly doling out money to suppress lawsuits 'cause he's a huge plagerist.
But I digress...
Good choices by Median there, I like them all!

What in the f**k? King is the master of disturbing thoughts (for me, anyways). My imagination goes wild everytime I read It and Pet Sematary, along with alot of his short stories.

If you havent read it yet, 1984 is an awesome book. Actually, almost anything written by George Orwell is really good. But thats just my 2 cents.

if King is the man silver, you need some lovecraft love, Lovecraft is like Darth vader to Stephen Kings Luke.

Hahaha...Lovecraft is like a college professor, whereas King is a kindergarten teacher. That's the difference between the two.
