"The BBC made a unique deal with Real Networks which disposes of their spyware tactics. Basically, if a user clicks on a link to download Real Player from a BBC website, the referrer script sends them to a page where they can download an expiry-free, spyware-free and nuicance-free version of the player. It's because the BBC have such a stringent public service remit, that it was offensive to charge people a license fee for BBC content, then make them pay all over again for the facility to view/listen to it."

Two things I'd like from Real Player:
1) just because I run the f*****g thing once, don't automatically without asking me change every single file type you could conceivably handle to run with Realplayer instead of what I configured them as. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE THEN SUBSEQUENTLY GOING TO TELL ME THAT YOU CAN'T PLAY THEM
2) Stop telling me "you need to download a realplayer update to play this file; click here", and then telling me "there is no update to play this file" when I click on it.
Oh yeah, a third thing:
3) don't kill all ten of my browser windows every time you get a file you can't handle.
If it does all that I'll use it. Otherwise, I'll see them in Hell
Thanks for the link though, I'll probably try it
