Heh, I'm a spic and agree whole heartedly about learning English or even Engrish for that matter. I know spanish/ japanese/ drunk b*****d languages, but that doesn't mean I am going to sit there and translate for some jumpers!
Only time when its bad saying that is when I say it with hate and death.....thats when it would be bad and I would burn in hell for saying it that way. But, I love aliens, what can I say!? =//

Calling onself conservative is very chic these days. The US is indeed a nation of immigrants, but even the term melting pot implies that people "melt" together into one culture (coined by Israel Zangwill almost 100 years ago). You have the meaning completely reversed.
I ordered delivery not too long ago, and the guy dropping off my food did not speak any english. He was lost outside, trying to find my townhouse. I recognized his accent, though, and started speaking portguese with him, asking if it was my delivery. It's fine for me because I actually know other languages, but it is not uncommon to encounter laborers (gardeners, food services, etc.) who can't understand a word.

By the way, 6% unemployment is still considered full employement so it's not like that is a terrible percentage to be at.
And, f**k them if they don't want to speak english. That is the trash that needs to get rounded up and dumped somewhere. Living in central texas sucks with all those pieces of shit. They suck up a lot of lower paying jobs that young people get f****d over on because those scumbags work for a buck an hour and perform the majority of them poorly.

There is, the fathers of this nation voted on a national language. German lost out by only 1 vote.
Clev, I know exactly what you're talking about. I live in southern California, and growing up in school I had to watch as the Mexican students filed into a bi-lingual class because they couldn't speak the language. While the Brazilian foriegn exchange student learned English phrases before she even came to this country.
It's common courtsey to learn the language of the country you're living in, it makes everyone's life alot easier if you can understand one another.

Liberal democrats don't want a national language or a nice big cement fence along the border of mexico.
The fence would be nothing to build, just like a highway except its standing upright instead of flat on the ground. Then we could mine our side of it, like 500 yards deep, yeah thats an idea!!!! Then some guard towers every quarter mile with mounted 50s to reach out and touch anyone who makes it across the mine field!!! Then dogs, lots of dogs in cages, we let them go if anyone makes it past the mine field and the sharpshooters!!!!
I think that would cover it! Think of all the new jobs!!!

The thing is, who wants to keep the immigrants or migrants out, and who wants them here?
Wants them here:
- Businesses. Immigrants are cheap/captive labor when you need it, easy to get rid of when you don't want them any more
- Middle/upper class households. Immigrants are cheap menial labor.
- Shops. Imigrants have to buy stuff, necessities at least.
Doesn't want them here:
- People on the bottom rung of the economic ladder. People who feel like they're fighting tooth and nail against immigrants because their job takes little skill or training.
I'd guess the interests of the people who want immigrants crossing the border outweigh the interests of the ones who don't. Therefore, we'll never close the border. The government has an interest too, but it's a little too hard to guess what their exact interest is.

anyone ever seen escape from new york? where they put those bombs in pliskins neck. we need to do something similar. only with an invisible fence like device where if you cross the border your neck explodes. most of the illeagal immigants dont speak english untill they can get some money then they speak good english. and just the opposite. they cause a car wreck or when the law comes for them its me no speak english

So every so often some Mexican gets a job in a KFC and you're going to b***h about them taking low-end jobs... whatever. It's all the jobs digging and hauling garbage and cleaning offices that you probably thank your lucky stars you don't have to do. Don't give me any of this "they f**k over young people by taking their jobs" .. you're full of shit.

White Catholics, as far as I know, aren't into big families. Maybe ones that immigrated 100 years ago, but that's long gone now.
*shrug* my mother's whole family is catholic and nobody has more than 3 kids. As far as Christians go, most catholics are 'C and E' people (only attend Christmas and Easter) and aren't very hardcore. Something like 70%, it's pretty casual.
The more hardline Christians are into big families. Lutherans, Church of Christ, etc. Do they even use protection once married? My co-worker here (one of 8 kids and he has 3 already at age 25) says they don't believe in it...

OK, that is b******t. "every so often?" please, they take EVERY job like this available. They are forced into this kind of work because they choose to come here illegally; if they came here the right way they could at least make an attempt to assimilate and become part of our society. Since they don't, they go and live in their barrios and isolate themselves from the world permanently living in semi-poverty and leeching on our country. I thought you were from California? I don't have a problem with immigrants, even illegal ones....as long as they work. I don't really care if they speak english, but if they s***w up my order at McDonalds because they can't, I'm gonna complain to the manager (provided he speaks english :p) just like I would about anyone else that can't do their job for whatever reason.
Speaking fluent english should definitely be required to draw welfare though. I also think all welfare recipients should be required to bust rocks with sledgehammers for 4 hours a day (child care provided) to make that job at taco bell more appealing. If nothing else they would be in shape.
If I were to move to a country that spoke a different language though, the first thing I would do is try to learn the language. You will never amount to anything in the US if you can't speak english.
And Clev, there aren't a lot of hispanics in the Bay Area...asians are by far the largest minority in this area. Illegal Mexicans is more of a southern California thing.
