Having a little trouble with my old Nissan truck(86). Its won't start, juice isn't getting to the starter, the battery is fine. Its an electronic thing that has to do with the clutch engage button. I tried bypassing the button, no good. I'm looking for a quick fix so I can drive it to a friends shop.
Does anyone know how to start a motor by jumping, or bypassing/shorting the solenoid? I used to know how 20 years ago but forgot.

To tell you the truth, and this is no lie. Whenever I see a post from you I think about small children running you off your street.
Nothing personal mind you, being I have never met you. I just see you getting harassed by small children, you getting angry, frustrated and finally retreating away from them.

Put it in second push the clutch in and roll it till it gets to about 5 mph then release the clutch should kick up and then slam the gas...Thats how i get my truck going when the battery is dead. I have no idea what all a nissan has so this is what i do and maybe it can help.

Sounds like its just your starter.
Lucky you We been doing starters this week in Auto Tech.
It could be the solenoid is f****d up or perhaps the bushings. Rebuild it and put it back together sometimes that helps. Don't take but about 25 mins or less. Just dont tighten the back screws to tight.

I'll ask (word for word) one of my mechanics teachers in school tomorow. Is there any chance that you could give a slightly better description of what's going wrong? I don't know if what you gave will be enough, but if you could give more, I don't see how that wouldn't help.

Ok, I thought it was the button behind the clutch. It tells the "something" that the clutch is IN. Once the "something" knows the clutch is IN, it lets the juice continue on to the starter or whatever.
This would not function when it rained or was very humid ever since I bought the truck used about 5 years ago. It was an on and off problem and all I would have to do was pump the clutch a few times and it would eventually make the connection.
Not anymore, its totally shot now. I turn the ignition on, all the lights come on, the battery is fine, just no juice makes it to the starter.
I cut the wires to this button and made the connection manually but that didn't work either, it must be a 2 way connection I'm not making, or something.
So
I need to start it from the solenoid somehow, I used to do that on an old mustang years ago but I forgot. BTW this is an 86 nissan truck, the chiltons SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! and shows me nothing, tells me nothing. It doesn't even say where the solenoid is, crappy f*****g book.
Thanks for any help:)

Humidity/wet weather issues usually have something to do with spark, doesn't it?...cap/rotor (unless DIS), ignition coil/module...
