I'm simply curious as to how you've gotten started on this habit. I'm sure it was your own choice and you weren't influenced by others. I congratulate you on your intelligent choice and logical decision.

I have the habit of smoking Pot but not cigs... I smoke more pot then I smoke cigs...
I guess since I get an easy access to it would be the reason why I do it all the time...

I just started smoking herb again this weekend. It's nice being able to make a dime last a whole week, but still get enormously baked each session.
Still can't smoke cigs at all.

tiz, im going to answer this seriously and i dont care... i know i was stupid for ever starting i know i was stupid to continue and i know im happy i quit nd will never smoke again.
i started when i was 9 years old.
my mother father aunts uncles grandfather all smoked. my sister who is 6 years older then me, and i idolized her at the time, started smoking.
i also though it was sooooo cool! yay for being young stupid and easily influanced by media. (james dean, olivia newton john in grease, ect) i started smoking before i knew of all the 'bad stuff'.
yes i was young yes i was easily influanced yes i was stupid go me! yes i have since smartened up and even managed to quit yay me 
anything else?

Seriously though....
I started when I was 16 because my father told me that I couldn't. So I tried it. Part of that whole growing up and experimentation process for me. My dad smoked as did his entire family, so I wanted to see what it was all about. Sometimes I wish I never started, then I realize that there's a lot worse habits to have. I don't care, only one person that matters in my life and she doesn't care if I smoke or not. So as long as she doesn't mind, it's all good as far as I'm concerned.
Will I die early?
f**k... I hope so... can't wait to get away from bleeding heart liberals!

I started smoking cigarettes when I drank, then it led into casually having a pack and a puff here and there. Needless to say, it winds up getting worse than that; the same story happens to lots of smokers, really.
At first its enjoyable. After that it becomes just another self-destructive habbit. I have no qualms with self-destruction.

To make a long story short? I really don't want to. That's the real reason. My biggest problem with quitting (I did stop smoking for an extended period of time as mentioned in the other post) is aggression. I don't deal well with aggression. I also don't work in a job that I can get out that aggression like I could, can't tell a tech support customer to shut the f**k up and pack their computer in concrete, tie it around their waste, and jump off a f****n' bridge. Previously I could just find some dickwad being a j*****s in the bar, walk up to him and tell him he's got to leave, and when he gets all indignant.... smack him with a f*****g barstool till he p****s himself. I don't have that luxury of release any longer. So... I smoke. I stay relaxed, and loose my temper maybe once every three months instead of three times a day. The way I look at it... smoking will kill me early, and so will my temper/agressive nature... so either way, I don't have a long future.

Paraquat(sp?) killed alot of the mexican weed in 77? We had no joints, so a friend who smoked Kools gave me one while we were gettn drunk. Thats the day I started.
24ish years later I quit smoking cigs. I still smoke cigars.

I've had a cig here and there at the bar, but it's been over a year since the last one. Smoking just never caught on with me, and it was really just one friend I'd smoke with (and he's since quit). I'm not a high strung individual so it's not like I need a 'stress reducer' or anything, and it never made me feel much different.
Besides, I'd love to be able to play ball with my grandkids one day.

Never started smoking. My father asked me to never try it because it plagued him for nearly 20 yrs. I respect him and I never tried it because it's the one thing he genuinely asked me to avoid.

I smoked cigs several times. I hate them with a passion. Taste nasty and don't do nothing to me.
Pot on the other hand taste good and gives ys a nice buzz.
But I have no addiction or habit to any of them.

I didn't start smoking pot till a few months before I turned 18...turn 20 in 6 months. Still haven't ever tried a cigarette, nor do I intend to ;p

See, Cigars and pipe tobacco have tastes to them which is why I smoke them. Do research, and get ones you like. Only smoking like huge cigars a day for like 20-40 years is going to get you mouth cancer or what ever. Especially if you don't inhale, which with cigars you don't. Pipes I think you do, but I rarly do, only to get a minor buzz from it.
