I was watching George Carlin last night, and he made a few valid points. If there's some huge divine plan that god has set out for everyone and everything, why pray? Wouldn't you be p****d if anyone with a 2$ bible could pray and f**k up your divine plan?

That's a stupid question.
#1- Why would any prayer or answered wish have anything to do with the overall plan of a God.
#2- Why couldn't prayer be the plan?
#3- Why would any prayer neccessarily f**k up a plan
#4- Why wouldn't stupid prayers that f**k up the plan have anything to do with with that religion. Or - If a prayer f***s up the plan, that it is against's God's wish and you are sinning by asking for it, and shouldn't be. You don't ask cops to help you commit crimes, you ask them to help stop them.
#5- Why not think of a less stupid question? It's not like there aren't a million better one's to ask about Religion. Hell, I bet even Vekril find's this question stupid.

I consider myself a follower of god, rather it be considered christian or what not, the bible is written by man, so rather then follow the teachings of the bible directly, I personally read the bible and think for myself what it means (btw which is one f*****g hard book to interpet) then basically everything else in life is up to you and your morals, which believe it or not everyone has. We all know right or wrong according to most psychologists, we develop the sense of just throughout our childhood.

Personally i dont get down on my hands and pray, i think to myself in my head if im ever feeling regretful, feeling remorse for someone, according to Christianity, God is a divine being, so basically he knows what im thinking.

Sorry, cant answer your question too thoroughly, never heard of George Carlin (he an evangelist??), and what do you mean by divine plan? God, i really dont believe has heard anyones selfish prayers, so if i can answer it the best i can, You are safe, a human cannot pray to god for someone to strike down dead, because it would be for personal gain, (and basically, god doesnt do that, according to my beliefs).

Religion is used to answer questions unknown, if its usually a question about God, or why we live? Smile lol most likely, humans cant answer it or otherwise we would be worshiping ourselves.

The Big Bang theory has been disproven, the universe is to big to be measured, and too big for the theory to be valid. There is some divine power out there, it be a nice god or what, and why havent we seen God or what not? Well i also believe we're not alone in the universe, and if its true that God created the universe, then he must take care of everyone and everything in it (big responsibility).

In all, if someone (like evangelists) tries to push a certain type of belief on you, take a gun, hunt him/her down, and shoot her....he/she is no better then any of yall and gives us "religious" people a bad rep Sad.

Personally i dont go to church, i dont know my beliefs yet, i believe though i have a purpose on this earth, and i wish to fulfill it. Well you asked, i answered to the best of my knowledge, please correct anything in this post if its wrong, im sorry, i did no research, i just thought about it and answered it with the best of my knowledge.

Well if he does, then there is no way for his thoughts to be written down or described by us, so a question like that cant be answered Smile but i like your thought process

People praying could be part of the divine plan. I don't know what I believe but if there really is a divine "god" with a plan of how things will happen then everything we do is probably part of the plan, including praying. I hope the Buddhists(sp) are right tho I wanna come back as like a deep sea dinosaur or Godzilla or sum shit![/i]

I hear someone 'disproved' the existence of God the other day too.. but there's still 2 billion people that would disagree.

numbers of believers don't matter, its the dedicated ones that matter, for every 100 christians theres probably about 3 or 4 that are dedicated. try any other religion... you'll get a much better number for every hundred. the sad thing is, all christianity is really trying to teach to people is to get along, not to b***h b***h b***h every fleeting second of our existance... sadly thats all that has happened since the evanglists attempted to recreate what really happened 2000 years ago.

Is this some kind of weird sarcasm or are you truly that ignorant?

Religion is amazing though, it's convinced people there's a big invisible guy controlling and watching over everything. He also can send you to this big fiery pit underground if he doesn't like you, but oh yeah he loves you.

You have a better explaination about how we got here? Lol. Obviously it was by means of something we don't yet understand. I don't think it's any more or less believable than other possibilities.

Bastard

Do you know how large the Universe is? It's possible we are just evolved from some seeds an Alien planted here however long ago.

What i don't get about religion is they expect you to put all of your trust and block all doubt out of your mind about bad doings and that their might be no god in the fact that you must have faith. Religion seems like a pretty easy way to rule the mass of people without doing it through congress if you think about it. And How can anyone prove all the stories in the bible are true? They were probably just drunk people sitting around a fire writing stories trying to make a living and some dumb shit takes the book and tries to start a religion from it.

It's the same way the mormon religion started. The guy (can't remember his name it's John or something) found egyptian tablets and translated them into the mormon bible. Well come to find out later the guy was a f*****g retard and translated them wrong and it was really some kind of grocery list (or list of the likes.) So i would like to know is how can anyone prove that Christianity is so much more different than the mormon religion, noone can prove any of the stories took place or that Jesus actually lived.

Most sects of christianity don't believe God has a divine plan for us. To believe that Christians would have to put aside the concept of free will, something that is a basis of Christianity.
