Ok, here we go. I own a '97 Honda Accord LX (Sedan), and just got into the whole car sterio game as a hobby. I've managed to build up what I believe to be a decent system. Let me go down the specs.

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P7400 (XM Ready w/ MP3 player)
Front Speakers: Infinity Kappa 60.5cs (6 1/2" round component's)
Rear Speakers: Infinity Kappa 693.5i (6x9' 3 way's)
1st Amp: Sony XM-460GTX (60x4 amp)

Subwoofers: Rockford Fosgate RFD2212's (12" Dual Voice Coil)
2nd Amp: Sony XM-D1000P5 (900x1 amp)
Capasitor: Rockford Fosgate 1 farad (digital volt display)

Anyway, I set this up a while ago, and it's been working fine, but I wanted to fine tune it a bit. I know that I've made at least one mistake, but I don't feel like building another box (at the moment) to fix it. What I did was set my subwoofer's up so they were facing foward, as opposed to backwards. I can't just spin my box around, 'cause I made it as a trapazoid to fit closer up against the seat thus saving trunk room.

Anyway, I've never been all too sure with what to do in terms of crossover and what have you settings. Everyone always tells me "Just go with what you like!", but I still find myself confused. I've also noticed that my bass isn't all that I would like it to be. A friend suggested that I try getting an EQ for the front 4 speakers & a crossover for the sub. So I picked up an EQ232 graphical EQ for the front & a Tantrum X2 as my crossover.

ANYWAY... This is where I get confused. I can install anything I want, but the fine tuning is just beyond me. I have the EQ and X-over installed perfect now, but I'm not sure how to set it up to best go with my system.

Any suggestions out there? I know I have to adjust the built in x-over's and such on my amps, but I'm lost there as well. Anyone want to give me their idea of a good setup and I'll just try twinking it from there? I'd greatly appriciate your help.

Here are the pictures of my system as of right now. It doesn't look amazing, but it sounds pretty damn sweet. I just finished installing the EQ as of last night, so I didn't adjust it yet, 'cause I'm not sure what to do there... Anyway, here.

There's my head unit, the Pioneer DEH-P7400

Here are my two door mounted Tweeter's. These are the only really visable speakers in my system.

This is all you can see of my EQ when inside the car. That's a foot plate I made to protect it.

Ok, here is my EQ. I built a shelf for it out of .090 Aluminum and used drawer slides to make it slide in and out as it does. When it's slid all the way in, the seat compression (from my weight) touches the foot plate thus not letting it slide out. I built the foot plate big enough for that on purpose.

The rack was painted with a Sherwin Williams epoxie based indoor paint. I'm not exactly sure on the exact color, but this is what we use to paint all of our metal parts. (I work in a family owned machine shop)

Ok, this is my 1st amp. I use it to power the inner car speakers. It's a Sony, and it fits perfectly under that seat. it's bolted down to assure that it won't move. I slid the seat foward for the picture, 'cause you usually can't see the amp at all.

Ok, these are my twin 12" Rockford subwoofers. they're not monsters like some of you have, but I'm proud of them. I built the case on my own w/ some 1" MDF. It's a trapazoid shape to help the speakers sit as close as possible to the rear seats to help give me extra trunk room. I like how it turned out, but I'd build it differently next time. Namely, so the speakers face the rear of the car, but also so that they sit inside the box and don't have the big round speaker sticking out the way it is right now. Also, that isn't carpet on the outside. it's Felt.

Here's my trunk. There you see my PG Crossover, my 2nd Sony amp and my rockford 1 farad capasitor.

And here's a close up on the cross over, just to show you what it is.

Anyway... that's my setup. I could really use some help coming up with a "starter" set of settings for both the crossover (and amp), as well as the EQ. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

On the topic. Nice system. Nice way of stealthing the EQ and Amp.

Yeah. it only allows a certain range of frequency into your speaker. But I don't know what range I need to set mine at. Just like I still havn't figured out a "good" setting for my EQ.

it's a b***h.

Xarp,

Your sub amp has a built in variable low pass xover, why'd you buy another?

Your 4 channel has high pass xovers so you don't need one for them either.

Having the subs facing into the cab will drop your db, if you want more boom just build another box and turn them around. And try a ported box.

Those subs will make you shit yourself if you feed them enough power and do the enclosure right, HX2's hit hard as f**k.
