Now how exactly is AP rewarded? I've been trying to keep every "class" in the same %age of completion for each of the characters. Now, do you get an AP point for every time your character does an action? I thought this is how it was at first, but now I'm not so sure.
IE - If I had all 3 set up as White Mage, could I just sit there for like an hour in 1 combat screen doing chain "Pray" over and over again and have that level up that class's AP # count, or would I have to do that sort of thing in MANY combat screens? What's the deal??

Every time your character does an action that causes dmg or a status effect on a monster you gain one AP. This does NOT include just the normal "attack" function.
For healers, every time you heal yourself or a party member you gain one AP.. but not if it heals 0 dmg. That's why white mages level so fast. the pray skill.
Also, for every mob you kill, each character gains one AP. Oversouled mobs give 2 AP. And boss monsters can give alot.. 20-30+ , etc.
best way to gain AP without really trying is to get that garment grid that gives you the mug ability. Then just use mug instead of attack. You attack + steal, and gain 1 AP each time, unlike using normal attack.
