I log on and think, "I knew this was going to happen eventually."

So I swallow my pride, break out my mace/shield and take the role of the Protection Paladin. At first the entire scheme of it seemed awful, that each and every facet I liked about my Paladin was dead and buried.

But, shit, I was dead wrong.

Protection Paladins have insane promise.

First of all, Holy Shield is one of the most mana efficient means of damage we have. Not only does it aid in mitigation, it provides a very reasonable damage to mana ratio, mainly when you're facing someone Judged by Crusader.

What's more it works in ranged combat. Now that I didn't know until I tested it. I find that to be insanely cool.

Redoubt + Holy Shield allows a Paladin ~65% chance to block. Each block is 100ish damage (x4 or for 10 seconds, whichever comes first). And, on top of that, if you allotted 5 points into Reckoning, each critical attack you endure will not only give you +30% block, it will riposte.

I mean, I have issues with Imp. Seal of Justice. I had to spend the 5 points in that to get Repentance. Okay, fine. But when a seal lasts 30 seconds and the talent reads, "Increases the rate in which Justice stuns by X a minute," I'm get, well, a little confused. Not only because a Seal lasts 30 seconds, but because of the way stun works in WoW. Hopefully they'll look into that talent.

I'm glad they fixed Crusader, simply because it gave me reason to leave the bandwagon of Crusader abusers. Very Happy

It is so nice to see someone make a post on a class that had work done on it and the post isnt full of b******g and whining. /bow gethy

I read alot of whines and complaints about the warrior class, but when I play it I have fun and seem to do well, I just wonder if all the complainers just suck and whine due to suckage.

Oh well, good for you geth!

Consider the nail hit on the head.

You really, really don't even want to look at the Paladin forums. Each post is either a b******g Paladin or another class trolling, usually saying the Paladin class needs yet more "fixes"; it's just the cadre of persons who don't know what the hell to do when a Paladin uses Divine Shield--same old, same old.

I tried to make a thread, one that had suggestions and substance over b******g and complaining. It, amazingly enough, got drowned out over all the threads that contain the latter.

So rather than hoping for a Talent point refund, I sucked it up and coughed up the gold. Funny thing is I'd probably have stayed a Retribution Paladin if Seal of Command worked as it ought to.

Judgement of Crusader+Holy Damage = Base Holy Damage + X amount. It works, assumably, like +Healing effects in that you can't simply use Rank 6 Judgement of Crusader and see Rank 1 Seal of Righteousness doing 100 Holy/Proc.

But as it is Judgement of Crusader adds nothing to a Command proc.

But as a Prot. Paladin I no longer have to worry about that one. ^_^

I played one to 12 on Frostwolf. I really dig Warriors.

Since I made Gethy protection, I'll probably eventually level an Arms/Fury Warrior for the hell of it.

I played war to 17 and they are a lot of fun. Much more fun as you get more stances for switching around. Felt like a bard. Very very busy class.

I get just as much with druid, but instead of stances they're called shape shifted forms.

I played a Balance druid to 30 or so in beta. They're really fun, sans the fact I rarely to ever used my forms. :\

With a good weapon, there's no need to. The minimal tanking boost in bear form is outweighed by the fact that you can heal yourself for more health recovered than the bear can prevent loss of. Suxorz.

Rejuv+Moonfire+Melee

Then you have the Clarity proc in the Balance tree, which means a free DD or DD+DoT heal.

I loved it.

There's really not much to b***h about.

11 Points into Holy ASAP, though, Paco; 3/3 Imp. Holy Light, 2/5 Spiritual Focus, 5/5 Illumination, 1/1 Divine Favor.

A mana-free critical Holy Light every 2 minutes. Not only is it awesome for soloing, it's some damn fine group utility as well.

Cool, thanks for the tip, cause I don't know what to do with talent points really.

Of course he's only level 4 now...so it's a few lvls away. Wink

I went the same road as you Gethy. Protection paladins own as does holy shield. Repentance also owns in pvp for either catching people or sleeping them for first aid/healing. Protection pally FTW.

isnt the main fuss w/ warriors is you have one tree you have to go for (protection) if you want to do anything in the high end game but it f***s over your pvp completely?

Going prot sorta gimps your DPS, but gives you some great tankability, plus concussive blow, which is pretty nice.

Protection paladins are mean in pvp. Only class aside from shadow priests that gives me a ton of trouble.

I've come up against two good protection paladins that i've yet to beat in a /duel. Enough armor to mitigate a 5pt eviscerate down to 450~ damage = me sadface, combined with holy shield and cleanse = me wtfpwned. The best tactic I have against them is two cripple poisons and kite the hell out of them only using specials and slowly whittling there mana down forcing them to cleanse. I can usualy get them to use both shields and all their mana, but that point i've used everything and pretty much get waxed.

Also fek paladins with Krul Blades in the eye.
