Problem with everquest.exe

I have been having issues with the above noted file ever since I got back from my 2 month hiatus. Whenever I start up the file it gives me one of those damn windows errors about having a major problem blah blah blah blah blah do want to send in the error report or not shit. You all have seen them before.
The only way I have found around it is to use the eqgame.exe with the "patchme" command, but that only works everyonce in a while. I get the error message right after server select about losing connectivity from the patch server probably 19 outta 20 times tried.
Anyone else seen or heard of this before?
