I downloaded sisoftware sandra to check some stuff on my system.
It tells me that my mainboard is running hot at 77c/170f i'm like ok wtf my comps only been on for 1 hour.
I restart my comp and go to the bios to cheack system health.
It says CPU is 47c (not bad) and chassie is 45c(still not bad)
Hmm is this somthing i should be worried about or could it be software error?

I have no chassie fans my comp is an E..e...E.......EMACHINE! there i said it.
AMD Athlon 1700+
only thing I added to it was 512 MB ram and a gforce 4.
Thinking of buying some fans and find a way to install them via cutting hole in case.

I am beginning to think its a big problem with software.
I turn my comp on after its been off for 5 hours and as soon as windows loads i check the temp with sandra again. It says 76c/170f.
OK! i was like its only been on for 1 min and its over heating? ok SURE!

Try taking the heatsink off and turning it on and feeling the CPU with your hand to see how hot it gets.

My comp often idles in the low 50's (in 100 degree heat) and I have 4 case fans. 40's are nothing to worry about. I suspect Sandra is the problem. Also, try Speedfan (if your mobo is supported).

It will usually read cooler when you're in the bios because you're not excercising much of the CPU to just talk to the BIOS. I always see it get warmer when Windows starts, and much warmer if I'm running something.
I try to keep mine under 50 though - usually that's not a problem unless the temp outside gets into the 90s F.

Welp!
My comp was off and unpluged all day in my cool bedroom with fans blowing on it!
Took my air compressor and blew all the dust out of it and made it look new again.
After about 14 hours i plug it up and turn it on. Total of 5 min of uptime it still says 77c
My sensor is broken of the programs are reading it wrong.
If you have anymore to add that can help me from your past exp. Lemmie know!.
