Approval rating down to 50 on the nose, was 71% just three months ago.

Sinking fast, the Iraqi war bill was a huge mistake and now men no longer favor him more than women. The reason, of course, is that men are more sensitive to unemployment.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we don't get some jobs going in a hurry, Bush doesn't stand much of a chance.

I voted for Daddy Bush the first time - mostly because I have family in Boston and knew too much about Dukakis to ever vote for him, so it was the lesser of two evils.

But honestly, his son is lame. If there is a God(dess), please make him go away, far away.

Bush is the only viable option...unless you want a DemocRAT in office that will give our country away to foreign interest groups.

It's about time we got a president with a brass set of balls in office, instead of one getting his balls polished by a cow intern.

Bush was doa as soon as he was sworn in. I cannot condone 4 more years of this.

I have to look at the canidates to make an informed decission but the one thing I'm sure of is Bush isn't it.

Hey, at least between the 2 of them the Bush family has served 2 terms. That's got to be worth something. Funny how they both played out the exact same way.

not really
hardline republicans dont hate bush jr.

Anyway the job market has a year to come back a bit.. all we need is signs of a strong economy coming back and he will be reelected.. and remember in a year the situation in iraq and afganistan will be much more stable.. we havent been in either place very long.

Bush will win because the Democrats have no one good to run against him. Theres a ton of democratic candidates and it could very easily split the vote and get bush his second 4 years.

If making your point includes insulting past presidents at least twice, then your "candidate" is hopeless and so are you =).

Me too. Bush has two negatives.

1. Iraqi post-war casualties, which I already showed are declining rapidly. The only people who find the war a mistake are partisan democrats like Akronn.
2. Unemployment, which the latest figures show has declined. Given the fact that the market is up due to strong corporate growth, unemployment will be declining much more rapidly. The DOW is up today, despite an apparent G7 policy to devalue the dollar yesterday. That doesn't happen with strong growth.

Sorry, guys. His chances are pretty damn good.

I'll accept your appology after the election.

Indicators mean shit. Bush sr. had a 90% approval rateing right up to the time he was booted out.

I don't know about you but I was doing a lot better under Bush Sr. then Jr. and these are the only facts that speak to me.

Bush Sr.'s approval ratings went down lower than Bush's earlier. Bush's approval ratings are low for the two reasons I listed. Both of which have seen there worse. We should make this post a sticky until next november.

72 billion dollars down the drain for Iraq.. That was 5 weeks ago too. Not to mention we didn't find no f*****g weapons but it wouldn't suprise me if they (iraq) got rid of them.

Clinton may have had bad morals but he did good as president. Job % went up, he also made that peace treaty in the Middle East. He was a democrate =/ ..

Edit : i'm trying to figure out if i'm a rep or dem..

$72 billion is kind of a lot, but not that much in the grand scheme of things. It's about 20% of the entire peacetime defense budget. We will save money in years to come, too, because we won't need the level of permanent forces in the middle east used to deter Saddam Hussein, which cost us billions/year every year.

Clinton's poor performance is exposed more each day. One of his supposed greatest accomplishments was the non-proliferation agreement with N. Korea. Of course, they continued to secretly make nuclear weapons, but Clinton claimed credit anyway. His middle-east peace brokering was a failure, as is Bush's, but there is probably no solution for that short of war. His military accomplishments included bombing tents in Afghanistan with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cruise missles and bombing legitimate factories. His financial successes included the greatest level of corporate corruption in US history and a recession. I can't really think of anything he's done well.

im dissapointed in bush's spending policies (not iraq). I wish he took a more conservative approach to education and healthcare (i.e, dont pass a drug entitlement program). He truly is a big government conservative.

that said, I cant see anyone on the dems that make any sort of economic sence.

The democrats were all for his Iraq reconstruction bill until the public opinion polls came out showing that people were against it. Just goes to show you the platform which the democrats stand on...

Yeah dude, Democrats are all about wasting taxpayer money by balancing the budget and shit. Too bad the deficit has widened the most under Republican presidents, Reagan and the Bushes.

It's too bad that people are idiots about Iraq these days and wanting to pull out. Fareed Zakaria (I think that is his name) wrote an excellent article regarding Iraq for Newsweek a couple of weeks ago. It was quite good. He pointed out, correctly, that if we don't do our job there the way we need to get it done, that Iraq will turn out to be more of a threat than it ever was.

It's hilarious how 66% of Americans still think Saddam was behind 9/11 even when Bush said there is no evidence asserting that fact, 2 years later and with us walking around in his former country.

The Republican Congress balanced the budget against the will of a weak president who was forced to sign. Democrats complained about a balanced budget and are now complaining about a deficit. It is completely normal for a country to run a deficit during wartime or slow economic growth (in this case we had both). So yes the budget is, should and will be in deficit for some time. When the terrorism mess is cleaned up, I hope all the spending is reversed. In the meantime, it is necessary.
