If anyone here that joined a frat ever wants to share their worst pledging story... it'll be a good read for me when I'm done with this shit and then I'll post my own... supposedly my frat has the hardest hazing on my campus... not gonna lie, it's been rough... draining the shit outta me and NOOOOOOO free time (which includes sleeping time and eating time)... Anyway, just interested.. don't have to say what frat/where if you don't want...
Also, hi **** people, I miss you all... I have had absolutely no time for my n**d side =(

Frats are:
* Buying your friends because you lack social skills
* Epitome of n**d kingdom
* A bunch of men in 1 house showering together
Enjoy your "non n**d" time, Honey Bear.

I'm beginning to think Dunn wouldn't know 'fun' if it hit him in the face
If you had asked me this question a couple of years ago, I probably would've recalled some of the crazier times of pledging like my kidnapping to Ohio (where I drank the fifth of rum in front of Cowboy Rick's family) or some of the chases we had with the brothers over other kidnappings. But now I seem to appreciate the smaller moments more, mostly with pledge brothers I don't see anymore.
Sneaking beers with Dewey at our pledge party, our meetings at the house, bowling at midnight on a tuesday, etc.
Good times

Elavis you have no clue whatsoever - it is obvious you were never in a fraternity, did you even go to college or is your only experience with frats what you saw in movies or on TV hazing specials?
I made some great friends in my fraternity with whom I will be friends with the rest of my life (no not the whole frat, but my best 5 or 6 friends from it), made connections for the business world in whatever field I end up pursuing, and plenty of other benefits. Frats are also different among schools, and black frats are very different from white ones.
Best hazing memory - hard to say, but our scavenger hunt was insane - started at 8pm, lasted until 8am - with a list of roughly 50 items to collect from campus and all over the city of Philadelphia. Was an awesome experience getting to know the entire pledge class and the city, items ranged from a bag of shit from the St Bernard owned by one of the other frats on campus to an empty cheese wiz container from a famous place in downtown Philly, to a blow up doll from a ****-shop in a really scary neighborhood...
one of my most fun nights in college, some crazy shit happened over the course of the night and I got to know some of the pledges who weren't in my immediate circle of friends

STFU you clueless f**k. You cannot buy your way in, you must prove your desire to be in and you must be a person of reasonable quality. Most of my fraternity brothers are friends that I will have for life, and any one of them would help me out in a bind.
Lack social skills? That's the furthest thing from the truth. I gained 10x the social skills from the fraternity. It helped in public speaking, interviewing, and networking (pleasure + business). I wasn't much of a social person in high school, but the fraternity helped me to bring the social side of things back into perspective. Most of the 'hazing' to pledges, atleast in my fraternity, isnt really hazing at all. A bit of public humiliation really helps you over come any fears you have of how people judge + view you. I dont give a shit anymore about what people think, and it helps me to do what i want with total confidence.

Again, ignorance rears its ugly head. 75% of the people in my fraternity were athletic people in high school. About 60% of the group are management/business types, 20% engineers, and the balance miscellaneous. How does that define us as 'nerds'? I spent most of my time with them at parties, gatherings, meetings, and trips. Most of the parties involved heavy drinking and lots of fine ass women. We went on some kick ass trips, one of our formal dances was a weekend getaway to Canada, 60 of us went and it kicked ass.

Yet again you have little if any idea what a fraternity is short of "animal house" or some other movie. Not all fraternities or their members live in a house with a gym-like shower setup. I never lived in our fraternity house, and in our fraternity there was a private shower/bathroom people took turns using.

Maybe you guys had great frat experiences but the majority of the guys in the big frats here are major lamers (think the football players from high school). I'm sure they have a great timne doing it though.

Running through the desert on a scavenger hunt at 4AM while being followed by 2 snipers with paint-ball rifles as well as people in the back of a truck doing drive bys with standard paintball guns, and having beer cans filled with black cats thrown at you and exploding next to your head...all while on a time table and if you f**k up, your ass is grass....this was all after being yelled at and being made to do endless amounts of push ups and situps.
That was actually a lot of fun...felt like being in a war zone, haha.
I'm a big fan of the hazing.
..and as for all this talk of buying your friends and shit....it's really more like a community party fund. We're able to throw parties you'd never be able to throw together outside of the frat.
Our valentines date dash was at the f*****g art museum...it kicked all kinds of ass, and 80% of people there f****d their dates that night.
Hazing is not something that's restricted to fraternities...and it's not a bad thing. I went through it and I thought it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. We didn't do anything that was publicly humiliating or explicitly demeaning in nature....just a lot of team work activities, many of which were very very very difficult, and an incredible amount of drinking.
Hazing is a valuable tool when used correctly....and any frat that makes you get paddled or f**k a goat or do the elephant walk or any of that shit is f*****g queer, and you should drop them immediately.
...and some funstatistics for all you non greeks
43 out of the 50 largest companies in america are run by greeks
85% of Fortune 500 executives belong to a fraternity
76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity.
Every U.S. President and Vice President, except two in each office, born since the first social fraternity was founded in 1825 have been members of a fraternity.
A U.S. Government study shows that over 70% of all those who join a fraternity/sorority graduate, while under 50% of all non-fraternity/sorority persons graduate.

elavis, why is it you could only respond to my statistics with a "haha"?
laughing at the fact that by not going greek, you statistically eliminated yourself from several possibilities in life?

that one should merit serious laughter
