People who spend much time playing video games, especially violent video games, may risk damaging brain functions and affect their learning and emotional control, according to findings of a study released.
Hah... Anyway, if you want to read the rest of the study go here:

I dunno if I agree with this. I mean, is there really people out there that get so carried away within the game that they lose their self in the real world? What I mean by that is, if you are playing within the game and get frustrated and log off, do you lash out at others?
I play MMO's each and every day usually. And yes, I get frustrated with the game(s) at time, but I don't snap on someone IRL because of it. I dunno, guess that's just me

Yeah, should only occur to the people who are addicted and can't get off the game.

Actually I believe playing games improves brain functionality, I am not sure where I heard it (probably in one of my psych classes) but playing games actually stimulates more brain than going to school. Probably why we can learn how to play a game faster than we can learn how to do math hehe

I was huffing glue for excitement when I was a kid - bet most parents would prefer a gaming habit, right?

man, everything remotely fun or useful seems to cause brain damage and/or give you cancer these days. I really doubt the findings of the study are accurate.

So if you play a little (per nintendo) you get smarter, but if you play a lot you get stupid

I'm thinking it only affects people's brain so much because they play NONSTOP, 24/7 in the dark and not walking anywhere (except to pee)...their study definitely has confounding variables...there's really no way to link the two directly

It's not really about the source of the addiction, it's about the person's addictive personality. Like mine. I have an addictive personality, and no matter what it is you over-indulge in, it will at some point damage you in some way or another.
Like quitting your job and playing WoW all day. Ooh boy. I really need to sell my account and move on with life.
