What is the difference between a free wow world and a retail wow world.

Population (private servers have much lower populations), activities(guilds, instances, teamwork, BG), difficulty(lack of satisfaction), insurance (ur char can get wiped at any time) and Authenticity (It just isnt the same)

I dunno, I reckon the $20 bucks a month is totally worth it...

i would actually be interested in how much raiding actually is done on private servers. Personally i've always though of private servers as a novelty thing...but i suppose if it has a good enough community it can be much better then the real WoW...

I trust private servers, but you get bored real easy. You don't work for any of your stuff and after a while after you've soloed BT and all that, you've done everything and there really isn't much else you can do. I've gone back and forth from private servers to retail and even made one myself, failing to make it online, it's fun while it lasts, but meh.

It's fun when you first do it. You get free epics, the best in the game. You can solo BT and MH and everything. Spawn Illidan in Stormwind, everything.
But after you've done everything it gets so boring, you'll be straight back on retail.

True, its the community spirit that keeps wow thriving. Something thats just not on a private server.

Ya retail server is always better than the privates even when paying. Its fun to set up your own server sometimes and goof around and see all the things that blizzard has in the game that you'd never see w/o the private server otherwise.

private servers are fun for about an hour. The populations are too low to really do anything. There are different versions as well, "funservers" which up the exp rate and drop rate so it makes it easy to get everything, and you can lvl to like 100+ or whatever the server admins set it to, and there are normal servers where its just like retail WoW, except the populations are really really low and not really worth joining. If you could get a private server to have a population of a normal WoW server they might be fun.

I never tried a private server, and I dont think I ever will. For me the fun (and point) of MMO's is the MM part, the ability to play and interact with hundreds/thousands of people at the same time. And wheres the fun in getting free stuff and no challenge?

Private realms don't give the same satisfaction as blizz realms because everything's so easy...and if the realm's are blizz-like, they're too slow for a priv. server as priv. servers tend to have low populations....just pay the £8.99 a month and enjoy the real deal.
