What is everyones take on Planetside...I've heard some good things and was thinking about trying it out. Looking for a decent mm game but nothing as addictive as EQ...

mutliplayer online fps on a massive scale. It's fun as long as you don't play it 6 hours a day.
They have a special right now, download and play the game for a month for 9.99
|

Played it since release, they're slowly but surely newbing it down hardcore. It's becomming less of a FPS and more of an EQ clone every patch.
If you're really intent on playing it, I can hook you up with any of the big-name outfits, any empire on Markov.

I would pay $5 a month to play it 2 or 3 times a month. I wouldn't pay $10 though.

No, I canceled about 3 months ago.
Is it worth playing? Well, it used to before the development team started listening to whiners who couldn't compete and nerfed all the skill aspects of the game down. Basically, you succeeding is highly dependant on your cert loadouts, and implants and has nothing to do really with your actual FPS skill.
If you do play it however, get Rexo armor, Personal Shield, Heavy Assault, Air Cav, Medic, Engineering and AV and you'll be unstoppable.
The game is also heavily dependant on the Outfit (guild) you run with, and if you end up in a newb outfit, you're going to suffer and the game is going to suck. Pickup squads / platoons are a joke and aren't very fun.
For those of you playing on Markov, I suggest you try to join the following outfits: PCP for TR, Ht or SMF for NC, and Future Crew for VS.
Personally though, myself and my PS outfit are putting together a competition team for Tribes: Vengence (Free open beta starts this Friday).

I got a friend who plays it all the time.
He loves the game.
I like it to its fun.
Paden tested Paden approved.
Plus the new expantion they are making for it has mechs.
MECHS! LIKE HUGE GIANT ROBOTS!

Shame the exspansion sucks ass and completly unbalances the game. There's a reason why everyone calls it Bore Combat.

The BFR's aren't an exspansion, they're merely new vehicles that are going to REQUIRE the current exspansion to use.

Sort of like how a person with GoD in EQ and the "Find Groupmate" ability is completely useless if their groupmates don't have GoD also? Yes, that's right! If Dave the necro has every single group AA in the game, and you haven't paid for GoD, his abilities won't help you!

Seriously though, don't even touch this game. It was good and had a lot of potential about a year ago, since then SOE has driven it into the ground and it's more of an RPG then a FPS. Save your time and money for Tribes: Vengeance
