Ya, that's cause you can't ride your f*****g yak to vbasic school in Fargo, so they have to recruit some retard who took a class in Nebraska and goes "eh, Fargo can't be THAT bad".
Might as well get a job programming HTML for 50 bucks an hour in Bangladesh.

Stop being a b***h. Stupid superlative comments like this irk me.
If they teach typing and "computer basics" why wouldn't they teach vb?
-Nah-

Because Geek Humor is fun...
Ok if you want a serious answer:
Because normally they teach programming and use VB (most colleges use C/C++ or Java) as a tool to teach someone how to program.
The closest thing I've ever seen to an entry level VB course would be VBA - Visual Basic for Applications. Which really is more along the lines of VBscript then actual Visual Basic. (Intro to programming was/is a requirement for the class)
I don't count online courses because I firmly belive it takes a live instructor to teach entry level courses in programming.
Advanced topics can be done online because the students should already have a handle or two on the subject.

we use VB in Human Computer Interface just because it's easier/faster to make a user interface with
also there have been many advances in VB since VB6 .. I'm told that VB.NET compares to java in terms of what you can do
