I honestly don't know anything about nuke, but I always looked at it kind of like phpbb would fewer features, but would be more stable and have better support.

Just be careful with installing the mods you find around the web....some are total shit and do not mix well with others at all.

When in doubt, go here =)

among developer communities, nuke is like for kiddies.

I think it's alright. there seems to be a shitload of mods for it

Nuke is bad. I only say this because while its nice if you just want to get some shit up, its incredibly complex in terms of trying to make it what you want it to be. If you're much into design at all and want just a basic CMS and do the design yourself I'd check out Textpattern. It runs my buddy's site http://www.mrpunkin.com and also Nahualli's http://www.psyborg.com, I don't like not having control and like to learn shit so I wrote my own CMS for http://www.techiekb.com

I would give a big thumbs up to phpBB though for boards.

Yup !

Mambo is good, Nuke is shit. Me and Droo had so much trouble just getting a basic, unmodded version of Nuke running, and Droo is a f*****g whiz at setting this type of shit up. We had basic, basic, basic forms not display for no apparent reason, and the site was down for so long (not sure if it's up now I never bothered to check) that support for it was totally non existent.

Dunn and Xizorr both run Mambo and they like it. I trust both their opinions even tho I don't use it myself. As for my personal recommendation, Textpattern is the easiest to set up and it's loaded down with features, plus it's stable as anything I've ever seen out there.

As for board, me and Droo seem to disagree on that point, I have always been partial to vBulletin. IMHO it is far more stable, offers a wider range of functionality and holds up better over time. Yeah it's not free, but I personally don't mind paying for it. If you do, phpBB is pretty tried and true software, it just doesn't have all the bells and whistles I tend to go for.

-Nah-

Yeah I tested Mambo in the past. I wanted to implement a CMS @ my last job until I realized they were a bunch of psychotics who needed chunky dogshit in their coffee.
