Hey,

I just got out of a year-long relationship with a girl, and lots of it was due to her parents disliking me. Why you ask? Well, for the most part I beleive it was that they are scicilian, and my family is Scottish. They claimed I was irresponsible, yet I work 2 jobs, attend school full time, and volunteer by writing newspaper articles. Then again, I am an english/history major, so they probably wanted their daughter with someone who would be the ideal provider.

With Megan, her parents would tell her to break up with me...constantly. She didn't want to, so she spent lots of the summer with me. This made matters worse, and her parents began to take things away from her, and in the end I think it was too much for her to deal with.

I know for most Italians, they want the best for their kids, because after all, an Italian wedding is a costly endevour, and lots of money would be invested in us essentially.

Now, my question is, how much can parents effect the relationship? Do they play a crucial role?
