Which program do you guys use? I like the features AOL Guardian has but I don't like AOL and for several reasons I won't consider it unless there's nothing else that will do the same shit. I checked out something calledPC Tattletale, and I like all its features except for the one thing that AOL Guardian does that PC Tattletale does not which is sends an email summary of all the activity on the machine to another email address.

The basic idea is this : my mom's letting me hook my little sister up with DSL but the condition is I have to take responsibility for monitoring her usage since she doesn't know how to use a computer very well and my little sister would almost always be able to figure out a way around my mom's restrictions.

The catch is I'm in San Francisco and she's in LA, so a software program that functions on the assumption you are logging onto the child's machine to check logs won't work. I just want a capture of all activity. So far I only know AOL Guardian does this but I'd like to hear what parents that use this type of software have to say about it. Thanks

I set that up for my sister-in-law, to monitor my niece's online stuff...
it sends email to the parent, listing all the people the child chatted with, emailed, etc.

I think she turned it off, tho (my sis in law). She felt like she was being really intrusive LOL

I really am glad there wasn't an internet when I was a kid..I would HATE being monitored like that Sad

Can you remember the specifics of the software? From what I read in the documentation the emails it sends out are called "reflex emails" and they notify you of the fact that said child is accessing a website or a chat etc the moment they go there, but doesn't actually send you a session-long summary. It still assumes you log on to the child's machine to check the logs and the screen captures and view the keystrokes, etc.

Am I not understanding the docs?

I don't recall, as this was last year, but I think there were settings you could tinker with to decide what level of monitoring you wanted...

Be sure to get her a phone that will record all her calls so you can snoop on them as well. Also be sure to get her one of those collars with a GPS tracker in it. Look into installing a camera in her room too.

No, d*****s. I'm in the business of taking responsibility for introducing a new technology into a household that doesn't know how to fully handle it. I'm putting DSL into the house because of the benefits of having internet, not because I think she should have a free pass to the same internet you and I access. She's a f*****g 12-year old.

Do you think I want her having any contact with people like you?
