I love mine, but if you honestly plan on getting the most, you'll need 2. 1 for homebrew (1.0 or 1.5) and 1 for the future games that come out to require firmware updates. Mostly right now I use mine for SNES/NES and the eBook reader, and very little for games.
If you can stand it, I'd wait until about November/December when the rest of the lineup comes out.

man, I updated to 1.51 firmware before I knew that the programs only work on 1.0 and 1.5
Reverting back to an older firmware is too risky, so looks like I'm waiting for a genius programmer to crack Sony's new security code. Right now my 512mb stick is only filled up with mp3's to listen to while studying at school.
But, the PSP is one coolest devices I've ever bought.

looks pretty good, Konami isn't doing so hot for PSP releases though - I thought Coded Arms was going to rock the house, same with Rengoku, but both have been failures
Play-Asia.com runs a new special every week on a random game, I picked this up for $22 after shipping recently

Haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but if you're interested in Gretzky that is their current deal of the week. I've placed about 15-20 orders with them so far this year, great company.

Unfortunately I don't understand an ounce of Japanese, otherwise I'd be playing a lot more of what I want to!

Well for some games, like Tenchu, you won't need any Japanese knowledge and you can play the game long before it's released over here. This is, of course, assuming you like the series. It's the next PSP game I'm buying.

I like Tenchu, and was actually planning on buying that one. If they keep up the content anything like Wipeout has been, it'll be great for a long time!
