I know wages are about 15% higher there than in Michigan (as an example) because the standard of living is 15% higher. The desparity is even larger in Atlanta.

My first apartment in WV was $545 a month for a s****y two bedroom in 1992. When I moved to San Gabriel Valley in CA I paid $640 for a very nice two bedroom apartment in a great little security community type deal with a pool, hot tub, tennis courts, etc.

I was looking at apartments in Atlanta and noticed tht I could get a nice two bedroom for about $575 and around here one would cost me about $600+.

I work for $7.65 an hour, and unless you get a job working for the State, Chemical Company, Utility Company, or Coal Mines... you aren't going to find jack or shit here in Charleston that pays much more. Highest paying job that I've had is $8/hr and that was also doing Tech Support unless you count jobs that's aren't solely hourly based. Working at Radio Shack I made 6/hr with floating commission, and working in the bars I made money plus tips. Employers in this area pay crap because they can get away with it, that's why there's a strike almost every other month around here. Right now it's Kroger's Grocery Stores that's on strike. Who knows who it will be tomorrow.

They can do that because they are out to make money. They don't give a rat's ass what minimum wage TP thinks about a situation. Go to school and find something you like to do. Not a job your going to hate until your 65.

Yeah, but it's a great company over all, even though Dunn and I are seriously ove worked for that amount. This Wednesday I'm putting the corporation up (actually upgrading the business I already have to corporation status) and I'm gonna try and work out something with my current CEO that will allow me to work from out of state. Basically work out an exclusive web dev deal with him, that way I stay with the company but it's on my own terms. Will also take care of a slew of Hosting Issues for my business.

Well, get a job as a Night Auditor at a hotel...11pm to 7am...and you can make from $8.00 to $15.00 per hour, depending on where and how large the hotel is. Wink

Sweet. Do these jobs usually require experience? Are hotels usually looking for more? I applied at like every hotel in my city but as a desk clerk

Heh, come to NY and make 120 a day cash. And learn a skill.

Only problem might be apartments, I get $1100 a month for one of my 1 bedrooms:)

My s****y place costs me $845 a month. That on top of Car Payments, Motorcycle Payments, Insurance, Internet, Food, etc. There is no f'n way I could come close to living on those wadges.

Man, wish I could take my wadges and move east! I'd be a king!
