RamSlot2: Hey RamSlot3, what's data?
RamSlot3: Don't ask me.
RamSlot2: Hey RamSlot1, what's data?
RamSlot1: Never seen it. Ask RamSlot0.
RamSlot2: Hey RamSlot0, what's data?
RamSlot0: *Yawn* .. What?
and no, 2 chips is definitely not slower than 1

Latency isnt the only thing to consider. If your mobo can run dual channel, get 2 sticks. You *WILL* notice a difference between i stick at CAS 3 and (2) sticks of CAS 2.5 IN DUAL CHANNEL.

cool. thanks guys.
and myndwarrp, it says it can do it. wiaiting for some downloads to finish to see if it's turned on. i'm guessing that that is in the BIOS somewhere.

Unless you've f****d with your BIOS, it will run dual channel automatically. You should see the confirmation message in the boot sequence.

It will run dual channel auto if you stick the sticks in the right slots.
When you open your case, you should see two pairs of two slots. Putting both RAM sticks in the 2 slots of the same pair will disable dualchannel.
To Enable dual channel the 2 RAM sticks must be in matching slots of the difrent pairs. So if you had a 1-2 pair, and a 3-4 pair, you would need to put RAM in the 1 and 3 slot. If you have 4 sticks of RAM in there it'll be running dual channel by default.
Something you might find usefull, if running 4 sticks in a dual channel board, and any of the 4 is not the exact same as the other 4, disable dual channel, or your machine will get fekked over time.
