** Demise of the Classic/Velious Interface **
Over the last six months we have been keeping the Classic EverQuest interface as well as the Velious interface working through all of the features that we have added (built-in MP3 player, item links, compass, enhanced /bug reporting tool, and others). However, with the release of some of the new features in this patch, such as running EQ in a window, we must now say goodbye to the older interfaces. They have been disabled as of today.
They served us well.
** EQ in a Window **
EverQuest can now be run in a window. To place EverQuest in a window, simply press Alt-Enter. You can also switch out of EverQuest to another program by using the familiar Alt-Tab. It is important that you do not do this until you are in-game, do not do this during the login process.
It is important to note a few things. Running the game in a window may reduce game performance a bit. And, as always, the more programs you have running at the same time the more resources they use.
At this time, due to some changes that need to be made on the front end, it is not possible to run two instances of EverQuest. We will be working to make the necessary changes over the next few weeks.
** Songs Window **
We have added a new window to the interface along with new game functionality. The Songs window is a new buff window that holds up to 6 bard song buffs. This increases the potential maximum effects that a character can have to 21 (15 standard and the 6 new ones). The new window only holds certain bard songs (generally the 3-tick songs). Only beneficial songs will qualify for the new buff box, and not all of those. Any buff in the new Songs window is considered temporary and will not be saved when you zone.
Songs that qualify to go into the new window will go into that window first. Any qualifying songs over six will be rerouted to the main Effects window. Cancel Magic effects will see these new buff slots as buff slots #16-21.
Note for User Interface skin creators: The Label EQTypes 80-85 are the Songs window song names.
- Some magical effects on Planar class armor have been altered. In most cases the effects were upgraded, but a few items were given weaker effects that were more in line with the difficulty of obtaining them.
- Fixed a bug that was causing a few Planes of Power NPCs to take too long to respawn.
- Wu's Attack should now work correctly.
- Incoming damage now interacts with Wrath of the Wild and other rune-type spells in their proper order.
- Pact of Shadow and Shadow Compact will once again heal player characters.
- Charmed Pets will no longer remain charmed after the owner dies.
- Sending special characters (such as < and ") via EQIM will no longer freeze the game.
- Hitting Autoattack when in explore mode at Character Select will no longer cause the game to crash.
- The Loadskin window will now load skins other than the default properly.
- Fixed and issue that caused some NPC's text to be cut short.
- Fixed (but did not rename) the Broken Golem. He should no longer be hated in Fear, just feared...
-Lowered the duration of calm-type spells that effect creatures level 50 and over.

EQ in a window is good for us non-cheater types.
The bard box is cool... and the upgraded effects on planar armor sounds promising. Just *maybe* they'll stop insulting paladins with outdated buffs we already have.

don't know about anyone else. But I play upto 8 accounts. Each on their own machines. And I also use EQW when I don't feel like looking at 50 monitors. SOE has said EQW is no longer bannable. They have unban people that they did ban.
EQW never did let you 'cheat' tho.
Now there is a version of showeq for windows, but only 100 or so have it. And it never did decode. so all you had was you're self running around in a map.
You could now with EQW and Keyring2.2 or SSS2 and WinShowEQ, "cheat" without running a linux machine.
Anyways, their version blows. You can't even play two eq's on one machine. Big deal you can tab out.
Unless you are super poor, how many people don't have two computers ??
You can buy Pent-4 1.8 loaded with monitor (or AMD) for around $699 CA dollars. Thats around $50-$70 US converted.

I have two computers, but three accounts (well, just three active anyways). EQ isn't that big a deal to where I'd want to buy another comp just for another setup, and now maybe I don't have to.
Not an earth shattering patch, you're right, but it's ok. At least the nerf stick has been pretty quiet of late.

Just going by the patch message. They really didn't do f**k all.
Most of that is exe game, and more windows. Shouldn't take 10hours to move data, if you are going by what they claim they are patching.
And what the hell is with factions. I could be blind. But I didn't anything where they said they changed faction ranges.
Use to be -2000 (max kos) +2000 (max ally)
It's now double or tripple that now.
My cleric has been Ally to live frogs since he was made( not really, but he has never ever killed a live frog, WAY back in old days I use to him to rezz/drag people on liveside) So anyways after killing 100000 dead frogs in lg and in Seb. He's fully max kos to dead, but not fully Allied to live.
What the f**k is up with that shit.

They changed faction values? Hmm, I'll have to look into that... I wonder if my max ally to live froggies is gone. (Spent about 7 months in Arch Mage lol)

ya, in last patch or one before.
Can't check like you use to(this was changed while ago ).
Eg. if you was one those 'cheaters' . You Could run showeq. /Con npc, and it would send the client #. Like blah blah ready to kill. -500
Everytime you killed something, it would be like +1 or +750 (like say for AOW hit) or handed in item..... Head would give you like +7 or +10
I've changed cov/giant/codain 15+ times. No way it's -2000 +2000 anymore.

I dunno, expanding the player max buffs to 21 seems like a rather large change to me. But then again my group has a bard wherever I go. :p
Oh and for all you my-d**k-is-bigger-than-yours types (who normally play wizards and rogues but for some reason a few fall into bard class), I'll drop in the obligatory "# of songs I can post" rattle!
I CAN CLICK (BLAH) AND (BLAH) AND THEN TWIST 500 SONGS AT ONCE EVEN THO THEIR CAST TIME IS 3 SECS (~~KEKE~~) . I CANNOT DO BASIC MATH BUT I CAN TWIST 500 SONGS AT ONCE, SWEAR TO GOD.
