Just curious, cause i've never seen this tried but it sounds like it might have some cool effects.

What would you happen if you took one of those radioactive things people use as lights or whatever, just something that doesnt lose it's glow for like a billion years, and you encased it in a perfectly clear crystal sphere. Then you mirrored the surface of the sphere to 90% reflectivity, and encased this mirror'd sphere inside another clear crystal sphere, and mirror'd that sphere to 90% as well.

Would you get the bounce back effect of a laser in all directions?

Maybe the light would seperate bandwidths after being bounced off a curved surface that much and come out in seperate wavelengths?

Maybe it would just glow like a f*g crystal?

The mirror, lets say the first one, once you apply the silver stuff that makes the mirror, how does the light get out of the sphere?

the mirror would only be 90% reflectivity

letting 10% pass through, but sending 90% back through to be pumped again.

The residual 10% of light would either get transmitted or absorbed by the surface. Eventually the light would go out Smile

you might look at tritium for your source - lots of watchdials and exit signs are tritium and phospher. I read about a company trying to make remote airport landing lights out of tritium and a scintillation material.

Thats exactly how a laser works, it bounces the majority of the light back and forth between two mirrors, one is 100% reflectivity, one is 90% reflectivity and lets 10% through each bounce, which is several thousand, prolly million per second

You wouldn't separate the light into different wavelengths with a sphere. The light would always be incident to it at a normal, so it would not split.

You could have a prism thing set up, that would split the light if it is incident to it at a certain angle.

Tritium cause phosphors to glow. Just like batteries cause turned on flashlights to glow.
