So my two roommates and I are hooked up via a router to cable. It's a Linksys router W54TG or some such... sorry I don't remember the exact model off the top of my head.
Anyways, when all three of us are using the connection even slightly it seems that the router begins to have issues controlling it all. Has anyone else experienced this?
What would be a good router for under 200 that would do a better job than this?
I know it's not a bandwith issue as only around 500k-1meg of the 6 meg connection is being used.
Appreciate any info.

Try the HyperWRT or Linksys Beta firmware from linksysinfo.com. It may solve your problem.
The current official firmware for the WRT54G/S is crap. I was having horrible disconnect / bandwidth problem until I upgraded.

I've heard that since Cisco bought Linksys, quality has plummeted.

I'm using HyperWRT because it adds a lot more features than Linksys firmware, namely firewall scripts. They both fixed my disconnect issues though.
Edit: Your router is wireless capable though, correct? I'm not sure if there are any firmware upgrades available for the non-wireless models.

Yeah it has wireless, just haven't been using it.
