If you did something like that here, I would think you'd be sued into eternity. Even if you did sign some kind of waiver, chances are it would be very misleading (just in order to get you to sign on). Hell, it verges on the criminal.
Anyone know enough about the Japanese legal system to disclose how they got away with it?

They had one guy carry a frozen fish on a japanese tv show for some long ass distance for some small prize. The guy got frostbite and think he lost a couple fingers and tried to sue the show. So they do sue, dont know if he ever won.
