Are there any to be found online, for free I mean? I'm only now getting into OG, and I'd like to have a strategy resource of some kind to refer to, so that I don't have to scour the forums every time I have a question of some kind… The only guide I found was some .pdf that sold for $20, aren't there any freeware ones?

Well, I don't know if there's a free collection of strategies and the like, but you can get basically the same info yourself for free if you check out some of the usual sites. Most of those online guides are made by collecting the intra-player talk and advice. Go to ogametips.com and read through their archives.
