I'm down to drive to SF for a weekend in June. Just let me know when its going to be so I can provide for a hotel room or whatever. If anyone else from PDX or Seattle is going to head down, we can caravan or whatever.

I would love to make it to one of these types of gatherings, but being as I live in the middle of the f*****g country (NorthWest Arkansas) it hinders my travel abilities. Maybe one of these days I can organize a midwest type party.

This implies that I'd have a day off of work. I'm sure it would be fun, after all of the awkward conversations were over:
"Hey! I'm Atarom. And you are...?"
"I'm Silvermouse."
"Nice to meet you!"
"You too..."
"So!"
"So?"
"Have a burger, they're about ready."
"Just because I'm a bit overweight you assumed that I was hungry? Why don't you f**k off? How about you do that, Atarom? How about you take your shiny burgers and f**k the f**k off?"

I can imagine what our introductory conversation will be like.
"Hi! I'm Tiluvas, who are you?"
"I'm Silvermouse."
"Wait... what? But you are overweight and balding???"
"I'm Silvermouse??? pst."
"Ok, nice to meet you."
"So..."
"So..."
Later, we'd f**k a w***e and play doom 2.

Yeah, it would take awhile before things got humming. Hot people like Nah would be playing shirtless volleyball while I sat on the shaded bench, red-faced and sighing as I reached for yet another Diet Mountain Dew.
But I think in the end we'd all have fun! Maybe we could pay homeless people to strangle other homeless people.

Went to the Sydnicate RL gathering last year - it was odd, the reality of meeting a bunch of total strangers, combined with the feeling that in some ways knew many of these people better than alot of the people you deal with in "real life".
People introduced themselves by character names and then said their real names but no one remembered anyones real name. It was hey Pank check this out etc.
Putting the real face and person with the toon was also alot of fun, some people surprisingly seemed alot like their toon, but most were nothing like the mental image I had in my head. Quite a diversity of people too, from your typical "internet gamer geek/ette" to your average joe, to 50 yr old ex-navy seal vietnam vet.
Was alot of fun - I'd definetely be down for the SF thing if I hadn't moved away from Mountain View 3 yrs ago.

I might be able to show up if you have it late late june or sometime in july. I'll be moving to Oakland possibly, so you won't be too far around the corner.
If I'm still in Huntington I dunno, I still might be able to swing by...if there is a hummer involved...

Pankrat? I feel your pain LOL
Yes I answer to Tam. People think my name is Tammy.
It's scary as hell *grin*
and no my name is not Tammy
not even close. The gathering here, there are a few people that are only called by game names, not sure why but the names just fit right. My poor local crew is so confused by the end of the weekend it's funny. First time we had the guys here doing the pig roast they spent the better part of the weekend trying to figure out who the hell Tam was
It keeps life interesting tho
