How come? I would've expected a priest or monk class of some kind, or something that has an obvious "medic!" tag on it. How are folks going to heal their toons without a PC healer? Or is the game going to be geared toward auto-regeneration, or perhaps location-based healing effects?

Well, I expect it to be both of those last two up to a point, but saying that LotR online doesn't have a healer class is just plain wrong. If you look more closely, you'll find that the minstrel has a few healing traits that are supposed to make it useful to any group of characters.
