I keep hearing rumors about how Sony Online Entertainment are planning to bring back the "old flavor" SWG by putting up a single classic server, which would hold the original edition of the game, the one millions of people enjoyed, but that's not really going to happen any time soon, is it?

No, I would think not. First of all, it'd mean admitting that they've screwed up a good thing. Imagine if everyone jumped onto the classic server, and nobody played in the "normal" ones. Second, if they were going to do it, it'd be done by now.
It's just one of those persistent rumors that keep coming back again and again no matter how many times SOE puts it down.
