My brother had to buy a new laptop. He pulls data out of his race car with this. No serial port on the new laptop(most dont have them anymore)
He runs software that is only in DOS.
He has USB and PCMCIA available.
I'm having a b***h of a time finding a way that works, that is relatively cheap. He got a USB to serial converter that works great for the windows programs he uses....but isnt DOS compatible.

if its a Dos app he really doesnt need a new laptop for this does he? like the previous post says find a older laptop for the purpose of pulling data and then if you need to actually analyze it in a more highpowered app, just xfer the data to a desktop or something.

they make pcmicia serial ports with DOS drivers. You could use them to emu DSS back in the day.
