I do not know if it is new content or nostalgia that is bringing me back to Everquest 2. I once was very passionate player, but the time of my gaming days was slowly dying. Then I completely abandoned the game, and whole gaming scene. It has been that way until several days. I saw some videos from Everquest 2, and it seems that nostalgia has filled me. On the other hand, is it maybe the new content?

Interesting question. It can be both. Nostalgia is very powerful and few people can resist it. if you played the game before, than it must have hit you. And new content is centrally been added. Several patches with new stuff have been released, so both of those things you mentioned must have the impact on you. Everquest 2 is very addictive game, and it is hard to rip yourself from its grasps, once it catches you. I recommend you to return to the game, you have nothing to lose, except the time. But, of course, time is relative.
