Its that time again. I'm close to getting my new toy, and I'm torn between a large truck or a nice car. I ask everyone I know their opinions and now I'm asking you people, again.

What should I get? I have around 45 to 50k to blow, if I want too.

I'm leaning towards a used M5 or maybe a M3.

Take note of Kbarr, Mental_Hernia. That is exactly how you are going to be in 30 years. End it all, before it's too late.

M3's and M5's are amazing cars. That being said, the new M3 is and M5 are due out very soon (within 2-3 years i think) and are being beefed up significantly. This comes along with the new Bangle flavor design that is seen on alot of new BMW's (see Z4 - 5/7 series) and is up to you and rather you like it or not as some people flip out over it beceause its different.

With 45k-50k to spend this would definitly be one of the most badass yet classy cars to get, especially in the current model with 4 doors. Only drawback is a brand new models start out at like 48k, with gas guzzler taxes and other shit you gotta face its gonna hit 55k+ real easy with even basic options =/.

Looking at a used M5, the performance figures really arent as drastic in comparison with the M3 as you might imagine them to be. If i remember right, its like .1-.3 second difference for another 20-30k. Most of it just goes into interior, handling and etc somethign its already amazing with.

Base price of $45,795 acording to Motor Trend and Automobile

Dunno if its your style but it sure as hell looks mean

From what I've seen on this board, your personality doesn't fit that car. So you're either a.) putting on a front here or b.) pretending to be someone you're not irl.

Dude.... it's an overpriced, foreign luxury sedan. What more needs to be said?

How much does it snow where you live?

I would not buy that car and plan to drive it in the winter. Salt, Sand Ice & crap does not go very well with BMW's. Do you really want all that crap on the paint & undercarriage. Also BMW's are notoriously bad snow cars. I had one (not an M5 a 325i =p)& neglected to get traction control because I never thought I would live in a snowy are. & let me tell you that car sucked a*s in the snow.

Unless of course you have another car for the crappy days.

You probably already know this, but the BMW marquee pretty much means expensive, numerous repairs/maintenance. Especially used. Throw in their massive high-rev engines that they use in the M-series and you might want to save about 10k of that 50 for repairs.

I could see you in a ~2002 Viper GTS.

Kbarr, M3/M5 is my dream car. Man that's a true luxury/sport/coupe all in one. It really satisifies all needs. I would go with that. I mean a truck's nice if you're into that sorta thing, but who DOESN'T think an M3/M5 kicks a*s when it rolls down the street?

Personally, I like having people look up to me.

If you want a pussy truck get a escalade... If you want a mans truck get a New Tahoe(however you spell it)
Put a nice lift on it and buy yourself some nice tires. A well placed brushguard can make your ride look sweet, a gay one can make it look gimp

make sure is 4x4, dont go pussy on that

you could prolly put youself a sweet package together for 30-35k and still haev that extra 20k to spend on your children some day or on a loved one

just my opinion

oh and in a reck
Lifted Chevy Tahoe > BMW, talk about your fine and hes f****d

I love the reviews on the M5. Two of my favorites from reviews.iwon.com:

Quote:
I am 16 years old and my dad bought me a M5 for my birthday brand new with about 2 or 3 miles on it, my dad made me test drive mercedes, lexus, porshe, ferrari, lamborghini, and cadillac escalde and my dad also offered me one of the cars we already own like the diablo or the SL600 benz but i picked the M5, ever since i got this car i love it even more, my dad bought it for me fully loaded with the wood, black and blue full grain leather interior, GPS Navigation, on board computer, DSC, and the M enhanced stero system with enhanced bass but i have a tight system in the trunk with 2 12" kickers , this thing BUMPS!!!

Quote:
Summary:
IS THE THE SHIIZAA

Strengths:
IS LIKE WHOA..... NEED I SAY MORE... IT GOT POWER GOOD BREAKING... GOOD SOUND SYSTEM... BUT I WISH IT HAD 50 MORE HORSEPOWER... JUS SO I KNOW I COULD FLY OFF THE OVER PASS Smile

Weaknesses:
OIL CONSUMPTION... BUT NUTTINS PERFECT.... THIS CAR IS AS .NEAR PERFECT AS IT GETS.. ITS NOT A CAR U WOULD SELL... I GET p****d WHEN I SEE OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING IT.. WISH I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD ONE Smile
